Bandung is known for its nice climate (around 16-28° C) and for its reputation as one of the most important academic cities in Indonesia. Thousands of students from many cities in the country live and study in Bandung, increasing their chance to build lifelong social and business networks.
Students studying in Information and Communication Technology also find the city appealing as there are plenty of opportunities to do internships with some of the corporations in the industry which are based in the city (Telkom, Inti).
As a ‘student city’, Bandung has a complete range of student-related services such as housing, transportation and many others at affordable costs.
The city’s atmosphere is generally deemed as relatively safer compared to that of other metropolitan cities in Indonesia, especially from the moral values point of view. In Bandung, Christian students can actively participate in many student fellowships and spiritual activities such as the Navigators, Sion, Perkantas, LPMI and others.
Accomodation
A wide range of student housing options are available in Bandung: apartments, rooms for rent, house, etc. Most students from other cities rent rooms (‘kost’) which are charged on a monthly basis. Some landlords only rent rooms to a certain gender type.
Rental (including utilities) starts from Rp. 350,000/month up to more than Rp. 1.200.000/month depending on the facilities. Standard rooms generally include a bed, a desk, a chair and a cupboard. There could be extra utility charges for electronics such as TV, computer, refrigerator, etc.
Those who prefer house rental, can find a two-bedroom house for Rp. 7 million per year (price depends on the location and condition). Apartment rooms are also available from around Rp. 1 million per month.
For more housing information please contact our Student Care unit. The unit regularly visits and evaluates housing facilities around the campus and would provide housing recommendations based on first hand assessment.
